Changes from ROS 3.2 to ROS 3.3 Most of the changes with this release improve the system for the sysop, especially for those that runs their system from a remote site and for the sytem that receives a lot of uploads. Thanks to the many sysops and users that suggested improvements and changes, both textually and with actual code. In addition to the following list, many internal improvements have been made for reliability, maintainability, speed and to correct deficiencies and bugs. Instead of ROSMAC.INC, three files provide a more clearly defined interface between ROS and the hardware: ROS.MCH Machine (computer) dependent code ROS.MDM Modem dependent code ROS.CLK Clock dependent code Sysop macro for complicated and time consuming commands (this is especially handy when doing the weekly cleaning) Text file creation for message and log files MUCH simpler validation process (3 keys - XVY - validate the author of the last read message) Automatic NEWIN file (no need for an UPLOAD section now since ROS tags all uploads as "system" so that users can't see them. To the sysop, these files have an "*" in the filename instead of a "." for identification. When the file is released, ROS automatically enables the display of the file to other users). Full word wrap during character entry (both in CHAT and Message entry) Improved editing of messages More user settable parameters Random file access for messages to improve response time A menu request ("?") no longer needs a C/R File size totals Disk space available for uploads (disk space is also visible to the sysop on all directory commands) and protection against overloads More information on the status line Improved log file Changes to the Xmodem transfer routines to let the system run at 2400 bps and faster Automatic generation of a complete system directory using the SECTION file for control
