Your Kermit works fine here. Pics attached.

usage: kermit (300|1200|2400|9600) (1|2)
   ^                   ^
                                 baud             port
commands:
CONNECT 
SEND
RECEIVE
EXIT
DEBUG

Do not use "Serial" with your Kermit.

test 1: kermit 9600 1
test 2: kermit 2400 1

Pics show setups (not sure your PC ports are the same)
PC Device Manager Port# 1 set to 9600, Np, 8bits, 1stop, no handshake
Kermit for Windows:
test 1- set to 9600, Np, 8bits, 1stop, no handshake
test 2- set to 2400, Np, 8bits, 1stop, no handshake
